Fun Things To Do With Your Dog

Do you and your dog get sick of staying home all the time? Are you wanting some fun activities that are dog friendly? I have compiled a list of some fun things to try with your fur baby.

Go to a Dog Park

Going to the park is one of my FAVORITE activities to do with my dog Archie. When I say park, I mean a dog park. If you have never been to one, a dog park is a large gated area where dogs can be off their leash and can run and play with other dogs and dog owners. At our local one, they have small pools for them to swim, obstacles and toys scattered throughout. If you don’t have a yard or even if you do, it gives your dog a chance to really get their energy out and to be social. I find the dog park very relaxing. When I go to the dog park, I often see people reading a book, playing guitar, taking pictures all while their pup gets to have fun. It is especially a great idea if your dog is cooped up at home all day. You both need to get some fresh air. Plus, it’s fun getting to play with other peoples dogs!

Make Your Own Dog Treats

Making your own dog treats is a good way to not only save money but also can be healthier for your dog since there are no added preservatives and you know exactly what your dog is eating. There are plenty of treat recipes online but here is mine (and Archie’s) personal favorite! The best part is that it only has 3 ingredients.

1 1/2 cups Oatmeal, uncooked
1 large banana
1/2 cup peanut butter with NO XYLITOL

1.Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
2. Using a blender or food processor, grind your oats until they’re powder.
3. In a bowl, mix together the banana and peanut butter until smooth. A few small chunks of banana may be there and that is fine.
4. Save about a tablespoon of ground oatmeal and pour the rest into the banana peanut butter mixture and mix until combined.
5. Dust your surface with the reserved ground oatmeal and roll your dough to about a 1/4 inch thickness.
6. Cut into desired shapes using cookie cutters of your choice and place on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet.
7. Bake treats for approximately 15 minutes, or until the edges start to brown.
8. Cool completely before storing in an airtight container for up to a week.

Add additional peanut butter if the dough is too dry or additional oats if too sticky. Be sure to use a peanut butter that does not contain Xylitol, as it is harmful to dogs. Always double check with your vet before feeding your pet new foods.

Go to a Dog Friendly Bar or Restaurant

Dog bars are becoming increasingly popular throughout the U.S. It seems like everyone has a dog and everyone wants their dog with them as much as possible. A dog bar is just like your normal bar but you can bring your furry friend with you. Some places will require proof of vaccinations for the dogs safety. What a fun way to hang out with your friends and pet at the same time!

Go Get Your Photo Taken

A fun and free thing to do with your dog is to go get their photo taken at PetSmart or Petco when they offer it. Most locations will offer photo shoot’s during Christmas and Easter but I’ve also seen them do it for St. Patrick’s Day. Every store is probably a little different. Go to the Petsmart or Petco website and find out when they are offering it.
If you are fine with spending a little money, ask some local photographers to do a mini photo shoot with you and your dog. This way you could have photos at your home, favorite park or wherever it is you like to go. Dogs become our family so why shouldn’t they have family photos?

Take Your Dog Shopping

Did you know that many stores are dog friendly? Well they are. While it may vary store to store (so call first), these stores below are said to be dog friendly!

Starbucks (patio only)
Panera Bread (patio only)
Home Depot
Pottery Barn
Lush Cosmetics
Bass Pro Shop
Barnes and Noble
Tractor Supply Co.
Free People
These are just a few that are known to be dog friendly. Always call ahead and check with your local stores policy.

Make a Craft

If you’re a crafty person, paw print crafts are a fun activity to do with your dog. Making a craft with your dog will always help you to remember them. You could even give these items as gifts. Some fun and creative ways that you could use their paw print are:
Wall art. Find a picture frame with two slots for pictures. On one side put your dogs paw print and on the other side put a picture of them.
Stepping stone. Buy a stepping stone mold, decorate it how you like and put their paw print in the middle.
Ornaments. Whether you’re using clay molds and baking them or using paint and printing on an ornament, there’s plenty of ways to incorporate your dog into the holidays.
Jewelry. There’s a few cool companies that will make jewelry of your dogs paw print once you send them a mold. You could have a necklace, bracelet or key chain made that will always make you remember them.

Go Hiking

Hiking is a great activity for both humans and dogs alike. It’s a good way to get some fresh air, some exercise and to explore new places. To find some great trails near you go to AllTrails website or download the free app on your phone. On both the app and website, you can search trails by location, distance, reviews and more.
I hope that these ideas will help you and your dog have fun and make memories. Please let me know which ideas you like or some ideas that I may have missed.

Book of the Month Subscription Box Review

I’ve always loved the smell of books. Whether I’m in a Barnes and Noble or even a library, my heart pounds just a little faster at the thought of opening a book and finding out what story lies inside. It’s a funny thing really, when I’m in a store or maybe even looking at a Bookstagram, I see a book that I want and immedietly have to have it. The problem is (and I think this is true with many people) that when I get the book and take it home to put on my shelf, that’s usually where it stays. Forever. It’s not that I don’t like reading, in fact, I LOVE reading. If I end up ever getting the book opened, I’m hooked and so glad that I read it. I feel a lot better about myself than when I scroll on Facebook for hours or binge watch the newest Netflix series. There’s just something about having a book in your hand and letting your imagination go to places that you’d normally never go to, that tv can’t give you.

Recently I’ve been trying to live my best life. That means spending more time doing things that I enjoy and that matter, saving money and overall living a more simple life. I am hoping to cut back on binge watching shows and aimlessly scrolling through social media. Recently, Buzzfeed featured a monthly subscription service that caught my eye. It’s called Book of the Month. At first I thought, “No, don’t click it. You don’t need another monthly subscription box.) I’m always first to sign up for things like Bark Box, Blue Apron or KiwiCo for my niece and nephew. The problem is, they usually are really expensive and I end up never cooking the food or the dog toys are cheap and get destroyed easily. If I’m going to commit to a monthly subscription box, I want good quality products for a price that I can afford. So let’s talk about the Book of the Month club!
Once a month you log in to your account and will get 5 books to choose from. These are the books I got to choose from in September.

Each book will have the genre, a synopsis and a review from one of their panel judges.  There is also a “good-to-know” section that lists short characteristics of each book. On this section it might say things like feminist, psychological, fast read or even unreliable author. This is just an added bonus to help make sure you make the right selection! If none of the books peak your interest, you always have the option to skip the month. Once you make your pick, your book will arrive within a week

When your box gets to you, your book will be nicely packaged and even come with a bookmark.

cross her

As you probably noticed, I received two books. That’s because right now on Book of the Month, if you use the code FALLFEELS, you receive a second book FOR FREE! To have a subscription to Book of the Month, you pay just $14.99 a month. So, I got these two books for $14.99. If had purchased the same books on Amazon, I would have paid over $40. So not only am I saving money on books that I probably would have gotten anyway but also, knowing that I have a new book coming every month, it gives me a deadline to read and it has helped me to stick to reading at least one book a month! So I no longer have books collecting dust on my shelf and I just love my box on my doorstep each month! I can’t wait to get started on my thriller books. I will definitely continue being a member!

If you would like to give this great subscription box a try (which I highly recommend), click HERE and don’t forget to use the code FALLFEELS for an extra book FOR FREE!

How To Look and Feel Skinnier In Just 3 Days.

Look Skinnier in 3 Days

So you have something important to go to in 3 days and you want to look great. The only problem is you haven’t been doing so well with your diet and maybe you aren’t exercising. As a result you have a few extra pounds and you’re wanting to look and feel much thinner. I am here to help. These are all tips that I have personally tried. I am not a physician or a professional. These are just ideas that I have done and seen results. There are plenty of crash diets out there but that’s not what I’m going to be talking about. I want you to look and feel skinnier in 3 days the HEALTHY way.

Day 1

This day is all about nutrition. Every tip under Day 1, I want you to do throughout the next 3 days. Focus on cutting out carbs, sodium and sugar as much as you can. Lean meats and vegetables are your friends and don’t forget the water!

Drinking lots of water will not only help flush out the toxins, it will also make your skin glow. Drinking about a gallon of water a day will help normalize your hydration levels. To make your water even better, add lemon. Lemon aids in digestion and detoxification.
You can even keep drinking coffee and tea! Drinking black coffee helps you burn calories. It’s the added sugar and cream that makes it bad. So for the next 3 days, just stick with black coffee. As far as tea, I highly recommend the Yogi Detox tea. Drink a few cups a day up until your big day and your body will slowly detox. The first time I drank it, I noticed a 2 lb. difference after just a few days. While this is more than likely toxins and water weight, it will still make you look less bloated on your big day which is what we’re aiming for. It also has a smell and taste that I love.
Avoid alcohol at all costs! It causes the most bloating. Especially beer.

Avoid Salt

Salt is what makes your body bloat. So for the next 3 days, try your best to limit it. An example of some foods that are high in sodium are:
Frozen dinners
Deli meats
Sauces and salad dressing
Instant soup

Add Fiber

You can actually lose weight pretty fast if you add more fiber to your diet. The reason being is that fiber keeps us “more regular”, which helps us not to bloat. Some foods to add to your diet the next few days are:
Raw avocados
Black beans

Go for a Walk

Try and do at least a 30 minute walk a day . For better results, try one walk in the morning and one at night. If you can run, do that instead.

Day 2

On Day 2 you should still be eating healthy and walking as much as possible. I’ve added some extra tips in there to help detox your body and also give the illusion that your body is thinner.

Take a Detox Bath

Epson Salt is the more common name for magnesium sulfate heptahydrate, It has many health and cosmetic benefits. It can reduce the appearance of cellulite and make you healthier and fitter. Take a detox before bed before you go to sleep. This will release toxins, detox your body and promote good sleep. To take a detox bath follow these instructions:
1. Fill up your tub with very warm water. As warm as you can stand without hurting yourself.

2. Add Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) to your water. Doing this will raise the level of magnesium in the water. Sulphate washes toxins and helps in the creation of protein in the brain tissue and joints. For children up to 60 pounds, add half a cup.
For children from 60 to 100 pounds add one cup.
For those weighing more than 100 pounds add two cups of magnesium sulfate.

3. Add 1 to 2 cups of baking soda. Mix up the bath with your hand.

4. Add ginger tea or minced ginger. This step is not mandatory but if you do, it will raise your body temperature, which will help you eliminate more toxins through your sweat. Do not add more than a third of a cup.

5. Try and soak in the bath for at least 20 minutes. The first 20 minutes your body will release the toxins and after that your body soaks up the minerals. So for the most benefits, I would recommend 40 minutes but 20 would be fine.
Other Tips

You can also add essential oils to make your bath smell nice.
Drink plenty of water before getting in the bath and after your bath.
Bring a bottle of water to sip on so you don’t get dehydrated.
Have a cool towel on hand to cool your head and face as you soak.

Fake Tan

A salon spray tan or an at home tan blends in all your bodies imperfections like cellulite, stretch marks, acne. Having a tan also has a contouring effect that will make you look skinner. If you can afford to get a spray tan then that’s a great option. If not though, I highly recommend St. Tropez self tanner. For Christmas last year I got the St. Tropez Self Tanner Starter Kit. It came with the classic mousse (which is the tanner) an applicator mitt that helps you get the mousse on more evenly and a prep lotion that will prevent your tan from fading. The best part about St. Tropez is the color looks natural and doesn’t have a bad smell. I use it pretty much all year round and always get compliments about my skin.
Tighten Up Your Face
To get rid of the puffy and dull looking skin, I recommend making a coffee mask. You just need:
1 tbsp. of coffee powder
1 tbsp. of honey.
Mix the ingredients and rub on your face in a circular motion. Keep on your face for about 25 minutes. When you wash it off, your skin should look less tired and puffy.

Day 3

I really want you to eat light. DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF. Try to have a few small meals throughout the day. A salad with lean meat would be a good choice. Again, stay away from sodas and alcohol, they are not your friends! If you are using the St. Tropez tanner, it would be ok to use again today as well. Just make sure it’s blended into your skin naturally.

Take an Anti-gas or Bloating Tablet

These can be found at almost every grocery store or pharmacy. Just looks for bottles that say anti-gas or anti-bloating.

Show Skin on Top

Showing skin on your top, especially if the clothing is V-neck, will make you appear thinner because it diverts the attention from your stomach and legs. It also makes your body look more proportionate.

Wear Some Sexy Stilettos

Shoes that have a heel of at least 2 inches make your legs appear longer and thinner. Wearing high heels also gives your butt a lift usually makes you have better posture. Who doesn’t want that?

Fix Your Posture

You probably don’t think you have a posture issue but if someone were to take a candid picture of you standing or sitting you’d probably be mortified. When we slouch, our belly sticks out, making us appear much larger. Focus on standing tall with your stomach in.

Wear What You Feel The Best In

If you KNOW you are going to be miserable in stilettos, don’t wear them. If you are a fun girl who loves to mix and match colors, do that. What’s the point in looking thinner if you do not feel good about yourself? Confidence really does go further than you’d think. If you feel beautiful and confident, you will come off as beautiful and confident.

Wear Black

This might be the oldest trick in the book but that’s because it works. Wearing black, tricks the eye and gives the illusion of a smaller silhouette. However you do not need to wear an all black outfit. If your legs are your problem area, black pants will work and look thinner on top a black shirt. Just whatever you do, do not wear bright colors over your problem areas if you are trying to appear thinner.

Qualities of Someone Who Would Make a Great Foster Parent

If you’re considering fostering, you may wonder if you would be good at it. There are many different things you have to consider before applying. Too Many Damn People

Is it just me or is there an unnecessary amount of people on the earth? Like I’m completely stopped in traffic and there’s like 300 people on this one road and that’s just one road, in one city, in one state and so on and so forth. Idk…im looking around and thinking we could definitely do without some of y’all but then again I’ve been awake since 3:30 so maybe just ignore me. #thingsthatkeepmeupatnight #someofyallgotstago

Forever Alone

One time I met a guy at a bar and gave him my number. The next day he asked if I remembered what he looked like.
“Duh!” I said.
The guy then sends me a picture of 3 guys and asked me which one was him. I was 110% sure I knew once I saw the picture.
I confidently said “THE ONLY CUTE ONE. The one in the middle!”I picked the wrong one guys….I picked the wrong one.
